August 12, 2001 1228pm CDT Last night, for only the second time in my life, I went to the movies by myself. I don't know why I never go myself, because when you think about it, cinema-going is a pretty good solo activity. I mean, it isn't like you can talk to the people you go to the movies with, anyway. So I went to the movies. Now, I am only an occassional moviegoer, but I love the mystique of the cinema. Even if a movie is bad, I would rather watch it in a theater than on television. I love the experience of going to the movies. The cinema itself invokes a feeling of nostalgia - the wonder, the spectacle, the magic of the moving picture stage. Video, or at least home video, still fails to convey quite the same sense of mystery as film.
