September 1, 2001 857pm CDT "Covert" comes from the middle French, covrir, which I would be willing to bet shares a morpheme with ouvrir. One could probably make the argument that the words "covert" and "overt" share a morpheme, too.

September 1, 2001 122pm CDT So, Scott, what exactly is a non-verbal sentence? (A sentence without a verb, right.) What's an example? Does it mean that the verb is implied? Or is there no verb at all? In which case, how can it be considered a sentence?
