Today I sold four boxes of used textbooks for ten dollars. The gentleman who bought them told me that he has had good luck selling old textbooks on half.com. Intrigued, I bought a box of textbooks myself in hopes of striking gold. Along the way, I typed in some of the treasures from my own collection. I have a few goodies that would fetch a decent sum. Consider, for example, my treasured copy of Hesiod's Homeric Hymns and Homerica. I also have some titles by Cornelius Van Til that are somewhat rare, even if they don't fetch too great a price. The real crown jewel of my library, at least among books printed in the last ten years, is the 1997 edition ofPaul Avis's Anglicanism and the Christian Church which can be got neither on Amazon.com nor half.com. Of course, the 1989 edition is available, but only from one seller. I would never part with these books (particularly the Avis), but I think it's telling that the books I am the most fond of are the least available.
