WSBPEL Discussion on TSS

This post (and this weblog) has a new home.

There is a relatively noisy discussion about WSBPEL running on The Server Side right now (with plenty of gratuitous plugs); I added a short comment about the nature of standards.  There are quite a few other points that bear commentary (inappropriate comparison between JAX-RPC and WSBPEL, design/modeling versus code, failure to distinguish between asynchronous and synchronous non-blocking), but I'll leave that alone for now.

OASIS vs. W3C for WSBPEL

This post (and this weblog) has a new home.

A brief in Web Services Journal had a one-sentence summary about why Microsoft selected OASIS versus the W3C for WSBPEL (Note that the name is changing from the difficult to pronounce "BPEL4WS".), and it was more or less that OASIS is a body for business specifications while W3C is a body for technical specifications.
