Just read chapter 20 of Agile Software Development by R. Martin. It explains all the metrics in the JDepend package. Don't know who inspired whom in terms of the tool versus book development, but the moral of the story is: download jdepend and read chapter 20 hand-in-hand. Your package dependencies will become more sane.
