Xdrive Launches Video-Sharing Service

Xdrive is and excellent tool - one that I began using back in 2000 - at the top of the "dot.com" boom - while I was a Product Manager for Compaq's SMB Product Line.   Back then they offered free service for limited online storage - and captured revenue by charging for storage amount upgrades.

The online storage company is trying to do for video what Shutterfly and Ofoto have done for photos--letting people share the memories. Nowadays, though, it charges for storage.  [CNET News.com - Front Door]

Based on Gartner's predictions (see extract below) - 2004 could provide a great opportunity for companies such as Valence Technologies  (Saphion Technology) and MTI MicroFuelCells (Direct Methanol Fuel Cells) to utilize their technologies to either:
  • Increase Notebook Available Power At Current Weight/Form Factor
  • Maintain Notebook Available Power At Decreased Weight/Smaller Form Factor
Gartner Prediction: Despite battery efficiency and power management advances, the average notebook PC battery run time will not increase over the next three years.

Gartner Strategic Planning Assumption: Through 2008, average run time for a single notebook PC battery will not exceed five hours (0.8 probability).
