For my work I have done some investigation into Content Management Systems (CMS) and forum tools. CMS Tools are fine for updating your website now and then. So we visited a CMS company in Almere VVBS. Not that expensive, because they can deliver a complete system for €7000. We have to run it on a Linux machine. Digging into it futher I discovered some other tools: PureCMS and SiteDirector. Simple tools that do the job, but lacking of forums, FAQ's and doc centres. Then I was looking into Manila. Because I love Radio of Userland, I thought Manila can do the trick. Installing was easy and busy with the first test I was thinking: what do we really need? CMS on static pages is not what we need. They are static. What is dynamic. News, Forums, Docs, FAQ's. And then I remembered which forum has striked me the most the last year: www.invisionboard.com. Just now we are getting the installation together. I will keep you posted... |
