I am reading "The Clock of the Long Now" by Stewart Brand....a collection of essays on TIME.....excellent book......
One little fact stands out for me tonight:
In 1998 the amount spent in the USA on legal gambling exceeded $700 billion.....that could have paid for a great school system and happy teachers......it also meant that the 'house' made about $56 billion in profits - more than the movie and music industry combined!!!
