A thread on Python for hardware design on comp.lang.python
I like Python - easy to use, plenty of open source support and lets you do what you want without being bogged down in the method. I used it recently to model some signal analysis routines for an intruder alarm unit. I was able to sample at least a dozen variations on some basic ideas, select the best fit and did a quick re-code at the end into C to implement on a Motorola micro.
