April is National Poetry Month
National Poetry Month celebrates a depth of Canadian literary talent from Paradise, Newfoundland to Pender Island, British Columbia,” states a recent press release from the League of Canadian Poets. During April, the celebration will include Young Poet’s Week (7-13), and the announcement of both the Pat Lowther, and Gerald Lampert Memorial Poetry Awards.
Poetry readings will be taking place across the country in cafes, bookstores and libraries, coordinated by writers, booksellers, poetry and literary organizations, universities, colleges and other hosts. For listings of events in your area, please refer to the National Poetry Month Events Calendar 2003, available online at www.poets.ca or www.youngpoets.ca
