I read this after seeing Pat Buchahan on a TV show comparing the people
in the 41 year old feedtube case in Florida to Hitler and Nazi Germany
in 1930s. Who are these people who are trying to make moral
decisions at an arm's length or more removal from the situation?
This guy is willing to be on the front lines in some very, very murky
pesonal decisions that parents and families have to make. Because
he is willing to do, we (as a society) need to trust him with the
discretion to do the right thing. I think the most meaningful
observation in this (and there are many) is this
I mean, it's difficult to give the right emotion there, but it's
beautiful in a way," he said, somewhat aware of how this might sound to
a layman. "They are children who are severely ill and in great pain. It
is after they die that you see them relaxed for the first time. You see
their faces in a way they should be for the first time."
