Wrox, The End

I was an author for Wrox and I remember they had just started putting the geeks on the books and my wife said "Are you going to have your picture on the book?"  I replied "No!  It will probably be a small one on the back and they will put clip art on the front." - Wrong!  I got my mugshot right on the cover and it still freaks me out when I see it in a bookstore (although my parents totally loved it when they were vacationing in Canada and saw it).

I haven't quite figured out if it was Wrox or Peer Information (I guess the parent company?) that is having the problems.  It was sad to see that people used to say how awesome they were and then people started badmouthing them.  But I think having 20 authors on a book to crank it out can sometimes be a challenge.  I think a book always have a voice and 20 voices turns into shouting.  I hope they find a good buyer and reorganize.  I like their handbook series but the books are just a little too expensive.  I would like to see the prices go down and the books to not rehash what every other book has already done.
