"Conversation. What is it? A Mystery! It's the art of never seeming bored, of touching everything with interest, of pleasing with trifles, of being fascinating with nothing at all. How do we define this lively darting about with words, of hitting them back and forth, this sort of brief smile of ideas which should be conversation?" Guy de Maupassant

More thoughts niggling at me (3)

A girl friend said to me yesterday - "i wish i was a man"  - i've heard many many women say that - but am yet to hear a man say "i wish i were a woman".

Thoughts that have been niggling at me (2)

I was conducting an interview last week with a lady who i thoroughly enjoyed spending time with.  There was a certain strength in her - and she came across as very calm.  Instead of my putting her at ease (in my role as a facilitator or moderator) - she made us feel so comfortable with each other.  As we got talking more, she started displaying clear signs of low self-esteem.

And i began to wonder why a person's self-esteem is driven by her own perception of what she does or how much she has instead of upon who she really is.

I have not been blogging regularly - and i feel some pressure internally to do so  - do other bloggers feel this when they're taking an unscheduled blogging break ?

Random thoughts on the eve of my trip

Some thoughts on the eve of my departure for my holiday to the US and UK :

  • i'm so excited at the thought of face-to-face meetings and exchanging stories with people i have been interacting with since i started blogging - Judith Meskill, Stuart Henshall, Phil Wolff, Howard Rheingold, Marc Canter .... and so many more that i hope to meet
  • excited too at the thought of trying out wi-fi for the first time
  • excited too that i got a request for quote from a research company in Australia - the person there did a search on qualitative research in India, looking for an experienced researcher, and found my name there - before blogging i did not exist.on the web
  • and sad that i can't meet all the people in my blogging community - i have so little time as i have to be back in India by the 18th of November to shift home !
