Updates on my Tech in the Rains woes
On my Dell laptop - the motherboard is damaged - sound and internal modem wiped out - just got myself an external soundblaster in the interim so am back to listening to music and Skyping :). No internal dial-up modem though. On my dsl cable - this is the solution Reliance Energy, which is now running BSES's Powersurfer broadband services, have for me - bend the cable - tie it together tight with some tape - a little piece of the outer sleeve snipped off to allow the water to drip down. Never mind that the cable is lying exposed to the elements and birds outside my window. No apology or any move to make any amends on the damage. Am told this is what they can do - at best change the cable sleeve that might be punctured with holes somewhere for the water to have got inside. As a customer, i have to take it or leave it. And the 'solution' comes with a 'personal guarantee' that can only be given verbally and not in writing, that another motherboard will not be damaged !!! The good news - the dealer for my Toyota replaced the battery - free of cost which is to be expected as its within the warranty period - but it was done quickly and with no hassle whatsoever. And my cable TV works - was nice to have the person, on the ground handling my neighbourhood, actually giving me his cell phone number - so i could call anytime there's a problem. Instead of going through long drawn out calls and explanations to the service staff manning the phones at the office. 11:34:24 AM comment [] trackback [] |
