LinkLogs Its been such a busy period on the work front for me. I feel i've been ignoring my blog. I was chatting with Judith (who's been blogging her brains out with some neat stuff at the Social Software weblog - 7 posts yesterday !) a few days ago, and told her i feel like i'm letting down a really dear friend. Her advice - "i know exactly what you mean .... just go 'talk' to it for a few minutes". So i'm just going to talk to my blog. Scattered ramblings perhaps - still, it feels good. I spent a few hours today catching up on my reading .... there's just so much great stuff in my aggregator. I'm tempted to blog many things, but low energy right now. I really would love to set up a linklog - i like the idea - its a nice way to bookmark interesting posts that i may want to revisit at a later stage. Tom Coates has a great post today where, among other interesting issues, he talks about his linklog, and says : "my linklog is exceptionally slow on the uptake. It's that slow because I stockpile things that I'd like to write about in greater detail and then - when I realise that I'm not going to have time - I end up posting them on the linklog. I have some links stashed away in a bookmarks folder called "Backlog" that are at least four or five months old that will probably end up on the linklog at some point once I've finally accepted they're not going to have the fuller treatment they deserve." And Stuart who's helping me transition to Movable Type (and from whom i am going to try and "steal" some templates) talks about his linklog as a place for : "Notes that are Spiral Bound. A collection of clips that catch my attention at at point in time; reposted - no editing with my own title and categorization." I also see a linklog as a silent nod of appreciation to the blogger who's written the piece. And finally, as an indicator or pointer to readers who may value my opinion, to posts that i have enjoyed. A question to my readers, do you feel this might be useful ?

Radio Userland Comments Matt Mower gets Radio Userland comment spam too. He says : "Is this: GOOD website for ours!Thank you very much! human growth hormone ï 3/6/04; 7:31:54 PMthe start of automated spamming of Radio Userland comments? This morning I notice two of them on very old posts of mine from nearly 2 years ago. This would be very bad news as Userland offer no tools for managing comments." I have noticed it too since October last year at my blog - and had blogged my concern about it then. My observation since then - its sporadic and nowhere near the problem that Movable Type users seem to face. And am not sure whether its auto-generated or not - Seb Paquet, in a comment at my earlier post seems to feel it is not. If it is autogenerated, it is a problem Radio Userland needs to look into. And if it is not, i still hope in some ways this eggs them on to allowing us control over managing the commenting system. It is, after all my blog, my space - surely i should be able to control comments. 8:23:11 PM ![]() |
