July 6 challenge -- deface 6,000 Web sites On Sunday, a competition known as "the Defacers Challenge awards points to malicious hackers who successfully compromise an organization's Web server and deface its Web pages" reports IDG News. "Windows servers count for 1 point, while HP-UX and Macintosh servers count for 5." It could be a joke/hoax, but Internet Security Systems' Web site says: "We are raising the AlertCon Level to 2 in light of the defacement challenge currently scheduled for Sunday July 6, 2003.
