Most scientists
are hesitant to debate advocates of intelligent design -- the theory
that evolution itself was created by a higher being. Any engagement,
scientists argue, brings more attention to what they consider to be a
pseudoscience. But that strategy may be shifting...
Awesome article about some new approaches seeking to match the serious threat to science in our country. This is not a trivial issue. If a scientist doesn't "believe" in evolution, then they don't believe in antibiotic-resistant bacteria, or that bird flu could ever mutate and become a pandemic. This is not the sort of scientist I want working to protect my health...jg
