EasyBib
This site is great for the students when it's working, but yesterday it was down for a while again. One student and I had a laugh about formatting citations from scratch being analogous to having to do long division when no calculator is available -- one needs to know how to do it. I need to have ready links to other sites that format citations, or we need to consider subscribing to a site like NoodleBib.

NewsNow
From the Resource Shelf. I checked out this source a few days ago, and it's really amazing if you're one of those people addicted to breaking news. (I know some people like that.) I could see turning it on when there is a particular event I want to keep track of -- sports, war, entertainment awards, etc. It now claims to search 8246 news sources every five minutes, and one can choose to watch groups of news feeds or individual channels.

The Mathematics of an ISBN
I love this -- it must be my dominant left-brain. Actually, I've always wondered exactly how those numbers are put together. I looked at the page on UPCs as well. I wonder how a math class could use this. This link comes from the Librarian.net blog.

Internationale Jugendbibliothek
A message on El-Announce reminds me of the International Youth Library, which I should keep in my favorites. At my school we are always interested in books for children and young people in languages other than English, and they have a great collection and a good web OPAC. I hope that my colleague who is at the Bologna Children's Book Fair will bring back the list of White Ravens for 2003 -- the IJB's annual select bibliography.
