How to Find Anything Online
"The May 27, 2003 issue of PC Magazine has a cover story on search engines and Web searching, The article reviews the major search engines and offers helpful tips on using them effectively. In addition the article states: 'Go back to the library... Library reference departments are still great sources of information, even in today's online environment... Remember that while you may find large quantities of information though regular search engines, there's no guarantee that it's quality information. Anyone can put up a Web page. Library databases are created by well-known publishers and are evaluated carefully by librarians before they are purchased.' Presently the article can be found at PCMag.com." [LISNews.com]

Happy Birthday, WWW!
April 30 marked the tenth anniversary of the public internet. An article in The Scotsman gives a summary of the history of the web. What were we all doing ten years ago? I remember when I first spoke with an administrator at my school about this new thing called the Internet and how it might help our students access information. Just think of how the world has changed in that time and how different our students are.
