IM Librarian I've come across SmarterChild a few times now, and I'm really intrigued by it. It seems to be a personal reference librarian, accessible through instant messaging. "For a special introductory price of just $9.99 a year, you can chat with SmarterChild about anything you want, including: News and Info (headline news, sports, weather, movies), Tools (dictionaries, encyclopedias, calculators, translations, geography facts, etc.), Games, and Personal Stuff ('plan events and connect with friends')." I wonder how much this is used. It certainly looks like something kids would be thrilled to have, but I don't know how many would be willing to pay for the subscription.
