...WINNERS of the 2003 Best of the Web Awards from WEB FEET Guides and
School Library Journal/Library Journal. Each award is accompanied by a $1000 grant from WEB FEET (www.webfeetguides.com), publisher of the premier collections of pre-researched Web site collections.
"With the school sites, it was good to see the strong emphases on reading
with summer reading lists, reading groups, and book clubs," said Publisher
Ann Bagnell. Added Evan St. Lifer, Editor, School Library Journal: "These
Web sites assure that school libraries are even more integral to learning,
whether at school or at home."
The criterion for selection included usability, accessibility, clarity of
design, range of resources, range of services, and community impact. Winners
were selected by a five member committee: Carrie Bickner, the New York
Public Library's Assistant Director for Digital Information and Systems
Design; Marie Boyle, Managing Editor, WEB FEET; netConnect/Library Journal
Senior Editor Brian Kenney; Kathy Loser, Librarian at the Bloomington High
School North, IN; and School Library Journal Technology Editor Walter
Minkel.
