A really good op-ed piece that calls for professors and teachers to ask for personal responses rather than just analysis in their assignments. This is closer to the teaching for understanding that we're striving for at my school -- with self-knowledge, empathy and perspective just as important as being able to explain, interpret and apply knowledge.
