Parents' Choice Foundation
This foundation is a "not-for-profit evaluator of children's books, videos, toys, audios, computer software, television, and magazines." It bestows Parents' Choice Awards to "products that meet and exceed standards" set by educators, parents, and children. Site includes current and past winners, as well as topical reading lists, ideas for learning activities, and descriptions of special events at museums around the United States. Product listings are searchable. [From LII's New This Week for September 4, 2003]

A "Hit" on LM_NET from Art Wolinsky (one of those responsible for the excellent Online Internet Institute) gives a great annotated list of websites about reading that include lesson plans and/or activities for readers.
