Teacher Quest About Plagiarism
An excellent webquest for teachers, "Beating the Cheating," was mentioned on LM_NET recently. It was originally written in 1999 but has been newly updated. What good resource! I wish I could think that I could get some of my teachers to work through it. I'll have to consider how maybe even just parts of it would work in an afternoon session. We need to be training teachers to use Turnitin, so this will fit right in. If everyone would create assignments that require questioning and responding, students would be less able to copy whole papers, at least. The more subtle forms of cut-and-paste and paraphrased plagiarism are more difficult to avoid and to detect, but this webquest would go along way to helping teachers see the problem.
