Two More on the Plagiarism Problem
Synthesis: Using the Work of Others I really like this tutorial from the University of Maine at Farmington Writing Center and Mantor Library. It not only explains plagiarism and its consequences, but it has a section that actually shows examples of quoting, paraphrasing and summarizing sources to avoid plagiarism. [From lii's New This Week for October 24] Another one that's been on the listservs in the last week or so is Plagiarism Stoppers: A Teacher's Guide, from a school librarian in Illinois. This one is a compendium of "places to go for help with student plagiarism, how to identify it, what to do when it happens, how to prevent it."
