Book Fair Business
Denver School Wants to Dump Scholastic Book Fair. Any parent with kids in public schools knows about the ubiquitous Scholastic Book Fair Fundraiser. While a more palatable fundraiser than selling crummy candy, wrapping paper and refrigerator magnets, the Scholastic fairs have begun to feature fewer books and more junk--plush toys, fuzzy pencil toppers and more. .... More from the Denver Post. [LISNews.com] Ah, yes, the eternal problem. The article talks about doing book fairs with independent book stores, which is a good move, but of course they can't offer the same revenue level for the school. So is a book fair a fundraising activity or a means to get more books into the hands of the kids?
