Heroes in Life and Literature
The Gloria Barron Prize For Young Heroes
The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, founded by young adult author T.A. Barron, offers educators a free set of materials to use in exploring the concept of heroes with their students.[ALAN--The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of NCTE]
Barron has written some wonderful books for young people, including the popular Lost Years of Merlin series. I haven't read The Hero's Trail, but the news about this prize reminds me to move it to the top of my list. I know some teachers of middle school English classes who already do units on heroes in literature who could use this book well.
