Graphic Novels 101 A friend forwarded a message from the AISL mailing list with information about this excellent site put together by one of the librarians at the Bunn Library of the Lawrenceville School. The site covers all the aspects of graphic novels that I have had questions about as they have become more and more popular in the last couple of years. We have several on order right now, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the students like them. Our good-sized collection of "bandes dessinées" in French is well-used, and comics are a popular art form here in Belgium. 10:58:23 AM    comment []

Literature Nobel hypercello. Follow this link to see Yo-Yo Ma playing a "hypercello" at Tanglewood in 1991....Also, J.M. Coetzee was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature today. Disgrace is a pretty intense book (and short, for all you busy folks out there). [National Public Nate] Home sick and miserable with a head cold, I missed this news -- a Nobel prize-winner I've actually read. Thanks, Nate. UPDATE: Actually, when I saw a list of the winners from the last ten years, I found that I have read something by most of them.
