Rules for Mad Cow prevention not followed.
PlanetArk is reporting that federal inspectors have said that U.S. slaughterhouses are not following guidelines set up to prevent potential Mad Cow diseased meats from entering the food supply. Brains and spinal cords from older cows are not permitted in the food chain. The American Meat Institute disputes the findings.

Mixed feelings on this one. Privacy vs. Getting the Bad Guy. The advent of DNA testing, with the ability to get the right person, or at least not convict the wrong person, was enough to satisfy California voters to pass the initiative. Now other states, not already doing so, may follow.
