A weblog could be a Web Log, right? Or even a computer log (or an anything log, obviously). Yesterday I spent an inordinate amount of time modifying someone's Folder Actions script so that it would put the day's date into a file's Comments field, so that the folder (in this case my "Lost in Space" desktop shoebox) could be sorted by the date things were put into it. Useful, but also a way to learn Applescript. But why do I want to learn Applescript? So I can do things like this. Kind of circular, as so much is in computerland.
I also spent a goodly amount of time reading Apple discussion boards, the Radio discussion board, and leaving questions and then comments on the answers. All these different forms of online life. Observations on Radio's outliner, questions about print-sharing, using Backup, and dotMac design.
Then I ended the night looking at the Wikipedia, which is a historic creation. I don't so much want to read what's currently there as I'm intrigued by its development process and its potential. Imagine what it might be like in ten years, or twenty.
Two days ago it was figuring out how to subscribe to Dave Winer's new weblog directory in Radio, and that led to monkeying with Radio's customizable menus. I'm still intrigued by the ability to go under the hood in that program, as if its guts are all there for the tinkering.
