Beware of Froogle!

I am starting to see Froogle results listed at the top of Google for random product searches.  What does this mean to affiliates?  It means you are in for some pain in the near future!

Here's how it works:
Froogle goes out and grabs web pages that include products for sale.  It grabs the product description, the price, and a photo of the items listed on the pages it finds.  It then indexes all of these items into a massive, searchable database.  You can search for just about any item and come up with several choices at different price points from many different sellers.

So far, this is a pretty neat way to find an item you are looking to buy.

The trouble for affiliates comes when Froogle listings start being shown at the top of the Google search results.  The Froogle listings are right up at the very top of the 1st page of search results...way above any affiliate listings you may have achieved in Google.

Buyers will click the Froogle links, find an amazing, searchable listing of the exact items they're looking for, and never even bother going further down into the search results to click on your affiliate site.  No clicks, no money for affiliates!

Now is the time to start diversifying your income streams.  If you are relying 100% on affiliate income, you need to start building other revenue-generating programs immediately!  Don't let Froogle take you out for the count...
