We spent the morning and afternoon at the Seattle Folklife Festival. Both of us got a nice dose of sun. If it weren't for sunscreen this first massive dose of sunlight would be painful. We talked to most of the people who were displaying this years theme. Seafaring-- Several people from the East coast including Conneticut and Massachusettes. One exhibition was particularily interesting, http://www.wampanoagtribe.net/ the Wampanoag Tribe had three young people showing many items from thier museum. We talked with them for an hour or so. Next, was a duck woodcarver from Conneticut with a display of different projects in creation and a few finished samples, very nice. The most amazing were a group of women form the Saint Lawerence Islands. Their home is 100 miles north of Nome, Alaska. They were native ladies and performed a comedy routine, all were in 60's and more. I have pictures of everything. We walked home for lunch and a rest. We then returned to the Festival at 4PM and stayed until 9PM. We walked around, stopping to take more pictures, listening to various musical groups including the Raging Grannies. We were tired. Home in 15 minutes. In time to watch the last 2 innings of the Mariners. 9:44:13 PM |
