Today, I have been doing some research on one of my favorite projects, History. I'm working on the history of three rivers in the Pacific Northwest, the Elwa, the Skokomish and the Chehalis. Today I found an article from the Daily Olympian dated Sunday June 30, 2002 that reported on the finding of a fossil of the genus oncorhynchus, in otherwords a salmon that is 50,000 years old to 1.5 million years old. The Burke Museum at the University of Washington is researching the age and species. There are unique fossils of 100 or so salmon are along the Skokomish river bank in silty sandstone dating from the Pleistocene Age.
