Mad cow disease has been reported in a herd of cattle near Yakima, Washington. The ramifications are already being felt, Japan and South Korea have embargoed the importation of US beef. Of the 20 million cattle in the United States, this is a unique occurance but may indicate that Great Britian was right all along. We do have mad cow disease in the US.

The wild animals in the Midwest that have "cronic waste disease" although ruminants, may not pass the disease to bovines. Nothing has been proven but the chances of the transmittal of the disease to bovines is impossibly small.
