Engineers Befuddled by Blackout. Transcripts of calls made among power technicians just before the big August blackout reveal confusion about power-line failures and frustration over computer problems. 'We have no clue.... Our computer is not happy,' said one worker. [Wired News]
It's amazing to me to find out all the events started at 2pm when a power plant shut down. That cascaded into two powerlines failing, by then, it was going to only grow larger as those who connected to First Energy scrambled to protect their power systems from surges and bigger fluctuation problems. Had I known this, I would have left work at 2pm that day.
