Network boasts a change of address. A group of tech heavyweights launches the largest North American network that uses the next-generation Internet address system. [CNET News.com - Front Door]

I've been interested in IPv.6 since I first heard about it. I'm intersted in any inherent security it might provide over the current IPv.4. And if it allows Quality of Service to be implemented more easily then, I'm also all for it all the way. It appears it won't be mandatory for the US to migrate the way the IPv.4 was done by Vint Cerf. Maybe there will be a future Vint Cerf that makes everyone get off the old protocol and onto the new one.

Symantec purchases SSL VPN maker SafeWeb. Antivirus and computer security company Symantec Corp. said on Monday that it purchased SafeWeb Inc. of Emeryville, California, for $26 million in cash. SafeWeb makes technology that gives workers secure, remote access to network resources over the Internet. [InfoWorld: Top News]

The next big thing in VPN is clientless security. We're still using client based things for most of our remote network access. But thanks in part to our UR-Wireless project we were an early adopter of a similar product. It restricts access to our wireless network and acts as a gateway. It's called Blue Socket and they still, STILL haven't been bought out by anyone yet. They were far superior to Cisco's own offerings in the wireless security area.
