AirPort 3.2 Update Adds New Security Options (03-Nov-2003; 6.1K) [TidBITS]
I'm unfortunately a purchaser of the second revision Airport. It was better than those earlier adopter grey base units which were mere toys compared to the snow colored units. However, it looks like the Airport Extreme was the promised land, and I missed it by about year I think. But, I'm still happy with purchasing what I did and when I did. Here's to the snow-colored Airport.

Red Hat to drop free Linux OS in favor of Enterprise. Prominent Linux vendor Red Hat Inc. is dropping its free Linux product range and asking customers to migrate to its priced Enterprise Linux, the company said Monday. [InfoWorld: Top News]
I remember when Dell first announced they were selling machines with Red Hat pre-installed. A whole new era in the PC world was launched. But now I would say this single announcement more or less nails the last board into the coffin of the Internet .com bubble. No more free OS. Goodbye RedHat for $40.

Security--why don't we get it?. Zone Labs CEO Gregor Freund says a run of software worm outbreaks has exposed a broken security philosophy. [CNET News.com - Front Door]
While I realize this guy is a principle at Zone Alarm, he raises some interesting points and brings to light some facts about the Blaster infection. It's speculated hackers saw the original RPC patch come through when it was announced in July. Took that patch, reverse-engineered it to see what it was really fixing then used that blueprint to make the original devsating Blaster.A. That's some messed up story, and unfortunate indeed. Microsoft is so much at fault here it isn't funny.

When Branes Collide should be Brian Greene's next book title. Very compelling stuff, explaining the big bang in a different way. I'm curious to beat all hell about how Sparticles, Super-symmetry and the search for Gravitons is going to go for the next 20 years.
