A Choice of Bad or Worse, in an Impassive World. In a pair of sequels, Deus Ex offers moral ambiguity and Max Payne reviews a noir netherworld. By Charles Herold. [New York Times: Technology]
As soon as these are available on the Mac, I will buy them both. I'm a huge Deus Ex fan. I played my copy on the Mac from beginning to end about 3 times. It was like reading a book to me. Great stuff. And I liked Max Payne very much too. It was also like reading a book. Sometimes it was tedious, and I only played it beginning to end once, but it was really good.

Army backs down on classified data threat. The U.S. Army apologizes for threatening to prosecute an open-government advocacy group after it republishes a document copied from a military Web site. [CNET News.com - Front Door]
With Rummy at the helm, I think more than a few legal affairs officers are feeling the heat and being forced to act before they've examined the facts. The Army officer in this article comes off as being a good guy, and willing to apologize for an original threatening letter sent to the FAS. I'm sure it wasn't motivated by anything more than the general call to arms by Rumsfeld to get unclassified docs off of the .mil websites ASAP.

University of Rochester opens online music store. Friends of the RIAA unite [The Register]
I work at the institution named in this article. And I think this article provides a nice opposing view to the position put forth at the press conference held this morning. It's a nice idea, but I think it's going to be difficult to meet the diverse needs of the students with this service. The student body is really small compared to Penn State (3700 students), I just don't think it's going to pay for Naptster of the University of Rochester.
