FileMaker Pro 7: Can You Say Paradigm Shift? (15-Mar-2004; 22K) [TidBITS]
Since FileMake 7 has been out, no one except the genuises at tidBits have done any kind of thorough review. Why? Because only TidBits has the dedicated writer base that can throw together an extensive tryout and write it up in short order. Adam Engst deserves a lot of recognition for getting someone to write this article and get it up on the 'net before anyone else. FileMaker owes him a debt of gratitude, and kudos to the long time FileMaker developer who wrote the article. That guy did a great job giving historical context to this new release. I'm just glad someone is willing to take on Microsoft Access.

Intel plots 4MB L2, 64-bit desktop CPU. Conroe to bring Pentium M family to the desktop [The Register]
This shell game Intel is engaging in takes new forms every day. Now they're going to come out with a lower power version of their CPU's but not until they can make the cache on their up and coming 65nm process lines. Who in their right mind would by a Tejas at 125w when they are going to turn around and put out a 90w monster with almost 2X more performance. They're going to turn that 90nm process line over so fast, no one will know what happened. 90nm here today, gone tomorrow, due to bad heat problems I guess. This process shrink didn't save their bacon.

Delivering the 12kb Bomb. Total system compromise, some assembly required [The Register]
This is the best article I've read so far that compares how simple the viruses are versus how complex the OSes have become. There's no comparison who has the advantage when they can write a 12KByte snippet that can take over a whole machine running millions upon millions of lines of Visual C++. Poor Microsoft doesn't stand a chance.
