Panasonic preps 1GB Secure Digital card. The electronics maker plans to launch a 1GB Secure Digital card first in Japan in April, then worldwide in May. [CNET News.com] In the never ending race to make storage smaller, this announcement reigns as an all time benchmark, sign post of just how crazy small is. An SD card is roughly the size of a postage stamp. IBM once reigned supreme with their wildly over the top 1GB microdrive which is almost for times bigger than SD. My god, 1GB is big enough to hold a whole operating system plus virtual memory and some data. Just add a cpu, display and keyboard and go! 9:54:05 PM    comment []
