Radio legend Cooke dies aged 95. Veteran BBC broadcaster Alistair Cooke, best known for his Letter From America show, dies at home. [BBC News | Entertainment | TV and Radio | UK Edition]

Well, shortly after retiring Alistair Cooke has died. That's a shame, but I guess the doctors feared he might keel over unexpectedly. He no doubt went peacefully, more peacefully than if he had been at work in a broadcast booth. Hats off to Alistair Cooke for a long and illustrious life, not just career. He was bigger than Walter Cronkite, and Edward R. Murrow. His career has lasted longer than either one of theirs, and had a worldwide impact.
