Well, shortly after retiring Alistair Cooke has died. That's a shame, but I guess the doctors feared he might keel over unexpectedly. He no doubt went peacefully, more peacefully than if he had been at work in a broadcast booth. Hats off to Alistair Cooke for a long and illustrious life, not just career. He was bigger than Walter Cronkite, and Edward R. Murrow. His career has lasted longer than either one of theirs, and had a worldwide impact.
