Traveling Down the Memory Hole. Among the more popular items on a website offering visitors access to hard-to-find government documents, some of which have been censored, are a trove of items pertaining to the World Trade Center attacks. By Julia Scheeres. [Wired News]

Websites like the Memory Hole actually serve a useful public service. They remember what the politicians and media forget. The facts the unadulterated truth is right there hiding in plain sight. All we have to do is bring ourselves to set aside the time and READ! That's how I get all my good historical information. And I intend on reading as much of the Memory Hole as I can.

Are fingerprints really infallible, unique ID?. It seems possible that they're not By John Lettice . [The Register]

I know more than a few people suffer from the tragic flaw of believing in one truth thing. In the quickly growing field of computer security, a number of people have jumped on the biometrics bandwagon. And worse yet, just like drug dealers more than a few companies have rushed low cost, low threshold loss leader products to the market to just give the curious a taste of the biometric future. All they had to do was pony up the $79 for that keyboard with a fingerprint reader or that little USB device with the fingerprint reader. Now they are proselytizers for the biometric tsunami that will give us the secure computing future they as sysadmins have all dreamed of. I'm sorry folks, Jeff Schiller and now the Register say it ain't necessarily so.

New Toronto airport terminal sports end-to-end IP network. The system, a mix of wired and wireless technology, will benefit the airport, airlines and passengers. [Computerworld News]

This is quite the showcase for an all IP installation of equipment on an industrial scale. There are no proprietary protocols, connections to mainframes, etc. And stuff is reconfigurable to the point where gates can be swapped, ticket counters swapped between all the airlines. This is flexibility made real.
