Maybe Logic - The Lives and Ideas of Robert Anton WilsonOne book title I didn't send my would-be-sister-in-law, but probably my favorite, is the beyond-science-fiction tome, The Illuminatus Trilogy, by Robert Anton Wilson (Wikipedia) and Robert Shea. That book and The Book of the SubGenius (Wikipedia) were my Alpha and Omega.
The Trilogy's's Wikipedia entry mentions, The evil scheme uncovered late in the tale is an attempt to immanentize the eschaton (a catchphrase meaning "bringing about the end of the world" or "creating heaven on earth"... In these rapture-addled daze that sounds depressingly familiar. Back at the entry for RAW, I see "Wilson is featured in the documentary Maybe Logic: The Lives and Loves of Robert Anton Wilson, which was released on DVD in North America on May 30, 2006.
On June 22, 2006, Huffington Post blogger Paul Krassner reported that Robert A. Wilson is currently under hospice care at home with friends and family." Sadly, all good things come to an end. I guess he's still around, a Google News search produces nothing about his passing. Here's a couple of good RAW quote from the movie:
Like what you like, enjoy what you enjoy,
don't be afraid to make slurping sounds,
and don't take crap from anybody.
I think if everybody used "maybe" more often, the increase in general sanity would seem absolutely astonishing and completely flabbergast everybody. There are trailers at the site. BTW, a Google search of the cellar shows 10 previous posts with Anton in them. About time for another. The American Buddha Online Library has the film's whole transcript, sign-up required. If you don't want to sign up. you can at least view an illuminating collage of stills from the film. Finally, don't miss RAW's (Ended) eBay auction before it dissolves into the electron stew.permanent link #
