And now blowey uppy in Yale. It's a horrible Spring and I'm so tired of murderousness. You know that bit in Lawrence of Arabia where Alec Guiness, I think, is an Arab and he says: "we, the Arabs, we like cool shady places. You, the Mad Dog Englishman, you like the desert." Me, I'm from Texas. I like Peace. You know something? Those Nobel Prizes have never made me forget where the money came from. Those of you who pray should pray for those children in Yale. St. Barbara. I'm cribbing from the Oxford Dictionary of Saints. (date unknown). Barbara's date I think that means. The very existence of this supposed virgin-martyr is doubtful. There's no trace of an ancient cult, though she's supposed to have been killed by Maximian about 303. Her Greek Acts - I don't know if this an account of her life - are notoriously unhistorical. They weren't written until the 7th Century. Even more suspicious: Nicomedia, Heliopolis, Tuscany, and Rome all claimed to be the place of her death. I'm tired and can't write no more. Stay tuned for more on St. Barbara. One time Leo Castelli had lunch with this pretty girl and her pretty daughter and I guess this was during the horrible Yugoslavian thing. One of them. The daughter was eight, or nine, or ten. and the Momma said: it's this ones first war. She's been very distressed." Leo Castelli said: "Let us hope this is the last war."

Apparently we guess now that the Mayans left those cities because the blood hunger of the Warriors and the Priests, the LeadershipMen, made everything so horrible that people decided Civilization just wasn't worth it.They snuck off to the jungle and they forgot how to reed and rite. Except they could still reed baskets. When I visited Texas once living in her cabin by the hard bottomed tank she had one of those baskets that had wandered its way through time and geography, sojurning with the Dogs On Rox tribe who had tattooed it with a doggie sort of schnauserish, and I was in my Ray Johnson period and I left a postcard in that basket with a poem about being Andy Warhol's ghost and I stamped it that it might be sent through the Ether to the planet F2.
