there was a girl i was sleeping with in nacogdoches in and around the time i was first sparking with baby. this girl kept on at me to read invisible man. she was a witchy girl. she was trying to tell me something.
wearing my new t-shirt design 'skull and bones wants you, child, to die in iraq" i take delia out this morning. i was gonna pass on the small dog run but there was a tiny scottishy beastie in there lonesome and his mistress call out to us so we went in. soon a biggish girl in a cbgb shirt joins us with her new rescue baby. the level of play is not good. the tiny scottishy dog keeps barking at the girl in the cbgb shirt and you don't have to believe me but i'm pretty hip to dog thinking and i know this is a sizest issue and that this dog is a complete fascist. dogs are terrible at political reasoning. (my sarah used to bark at cripples and sarah never barked. she was like some crazyass japanese.) the dog barks and so delia howls. so to stop delia howling i take her to a corner and we play together for awhile - trash talking and playing keepaway. 'i got a fucking stupid beagle.. she so stupid, she can't even get this ball... see, see, you lameass beagle....' delia gets way off on this cos she's getting older and daddy playing more fun than puppy playing.
after a time we get ready to leave. "do you believe in the occult?" one of the women there asks me.
"I don't really believe in anything." i say.
"your shirt..." she gestures.
"it's a political statement. skull and bones is the fraternal organisation at yale the bush family are all part of." we talk about fraternities and sororities a bit. i mention that my daddy taught college some.
she says, i swear to god: "your father must have been a happy man because you seem so happy."
i am a motherfucking wraith for sure.
