QUIN WITHEY IS A PAPERBACK BOY.

I REMEMBER ONE TIME AT MICHAEL'S GRETCHEN MOL THE BEAUTIFUL VIXEN WHO HAS CUT ME SO WOEFUL NOW THAT SHE IS OF CELEBRITORIOUS STELLERATION, SHE FLOUNCES IN ALL SUNBEAM AND ANNOUNCES THAT SHE HAS JUST BOUGHT A NEW BOOK THAT SHE HAD SEEN REVIEWED SOMEWHERE.

QUIN'S HEAD: YOU BOUGHT A NEW BOOK?!? IN HARDBACK?!? WHOA?!?

QUIN WITHEY IS A PAPERBACK BOY.

PAPERBACK PHILOSOPHY, PUFF, AND PETTY CRIME. THAT'S THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE I WAS RAISED. I'M TERRY SOUTHERN'S WHITE TRASH NIGGER WANNABEE RED DIRT ROAD BASTARD CHILD. (I UNDERSTAND THAT STEVEN SODERBERGH (SP?) IS RIPPING ME OFF BY CURATING MY HERITAGE. AIN'T THAT TYPICAL?)

JAMES ELLROY SPENT TIME AS A NEIGHBOR OF MINE AND I READ HIS BOOK L.A. CONFIDENTIAL WITH GREAT ATTENTION. I TOOK BABY TO SEE THE MOVIE. ( SHE LIKED IT A LOT, ON PERHAPS AN EVEN MORE VISCERAL LEVEL THAN I, FOR THE BOYSTARS IN IT MADE HER HORNY.) IT WAS MY READING OF L.A. CONFIDENTIAL THAT MADE THE O.J. SIMPSON CASE CLEAR TO ME.

.....FICTION IS A LOGARITHM (SP?) OF REALITY...?..!..??

QUIN WITHEY - OH BITTER BITTER WITHEE - HE'S A PAPERBACK CHILD, A B-CULTURE BABY. BUT POPULAR ICONS HAVE FAILED, THEY DONE CUT THAT JUNK TO WHERE YOU CAN'T GET NO RUSH. SO WE NOW WE WHIP OUT OUR COUNTRY BOY HERITAGE - DON'T TELL ME MY BLOOD DON'T COME SOME OF IT OUT OF THEM HILLS - AND WE COOK OUR OWN.

t.g.r.v. cont.

the claims to excellence put forward by the later products of the book-maker's industry rest in some measure on the degree of its approximation to the crudities of the time when the work of book-making was a doubtful struggle with refractory materials carried on by means of insufficient appliances.

topless girls read veblen continued:

the manner in which the bias of this growth of taste [ for hand-wrought items conspicuously wasteful] has worked itself out in production is perhaps most cogently exemplified in the book manufacture with which [william] morris busied himself during the later years of his life; but what holds true of the work of the kelmscott press in an eminent degree, holds true with but slightly abated force when applied to latter-day artistic book-making generally, -- as to type, paper, illustration, binding materials, and the binder's work.

i suspect my momma of feeding me lines....

"i just wanted you to know that i guess i don't have the mental equipment to get my brain around the kind of social theory writing you've been doing in the blog these last days," momma says to me referring to the bits i've been lifting directly from veblen's 'the theory of the leisure class.

hey mom! i've got an idea! let's make us a thorstein veblen family vacationland and playground.

mom, older minds need new games to play. i'm guessing it was you who learned me that and certainly it was you, in the kitchen of that rectory in ridgefield, who told me of the research done into the unreasonably prolonged lifespans of old jewish communists. let's play thorstein veblen.

in the beginning, before the empire of dr. bienke, quin looked out into the world and he saw veblen.

"whoa" said quin.

quin pondered and pondered: "how should i sell this curiousity back to the world?"

quin pondered and walked, up and down, to and fro, his little black beastie in tow - or sometimes hastening him along! - and he studied the appearances of things and how they mirrored the appetites of people.

quin decided:

"tits."
