i'm pulling for howard dean. howard was the name of that puppy we had in the west austin house where will jennings used to visit. howard the puppy lived in a chicken wired corner of the porch and crapped on goldwater posters which our landlord had given us expressly for that purpose. (i had proposd that he had been perhaps a beagle but momma says he was a border collie.)
dale, when paolo della puppa had occasion to describe me to al dimeola he said: "quin's from texas. he plays guitar. he's an intellectual." al dimeola replied: "there are no intellectuals in texas." al must get his news from the papers (he probably thinks he can play guitar). i'm guessing alabama gets the same kind of rap. intellectuals are just like weed in texas. hidden, hated, hunted. and down most every red dirt road you can find. this stuttering tongue-tied texas stupidity act was a media creation. when he was very young barbara gave up her child to the polished men in the brooks brothers suits who smelled of pipe tobacco and summers by the sea. sometimes their swiss watches would chime and they would remember to recite the invocation: "georgie porgie puddin n pie, being dumb's what gets you by."
howard dean is the candidate of x-file prophecy. in the empire of dr. bienke [withey] experiments (plays) with quotations and citations, sometimes building imaginary (mis-remembered? dis-attibuted? intuitively conceived? psychically channelled?) quotations which he then drips unreadable onto discarded table cloths referencing the buddhist axiom: "when you can't remember what the prayer in the wheel is you probably don't need to spin it fast. unless you just want to."
"the truth is out there." - howard dean.
i am forming the notion that religious fundamentalism is a by-product of the petroleum industry. that rockefeller's standard oil put money into churches in texas and arkansas and oklahoma with the express purpose of combating progressive ideological development and unionism - i think that's going to be pretty easily documented whenever i or somebody else gets around to it - but i'm not fixed on that line of causation. i'm sort of swayed to the consequences of letting ghosties (pumping ghosties) out of the ground thing.
i wonder if al dimeola would consider tobe hooper an intellectual? terry southern?
i'm guessing that my characterization of nelson mandela as 'one who does not give a fuck' will ring false in some ears but if so those ears should swing by gandhi and hinduism again. check that drone out.
if we consider veblen's thinking of ownership as being exhibited first in the ownership of women and we turn and look at snoop doggy dog aren't we struck again by that boy's theoretical acumen and prescience in his latest pimp-style manifestations? don't snoop cut to what's real?
dale, i'm guessing you're getting to kant through emerson and that emerson is finding kant persuasive because it meshes so well with emerson's readings of eastern religion and so he is persuaded to see the possibilities of a general law in the categorical imperative. but emerson doesn't have his head around darwin's elongation of time. and we know more about eastern religions. the tenets of a faith are irrelevant - any and every faith is murderous.
when i get some money i'm gonna buy something made of thread gandhi spun. gandhi had faith in the masses. faith is useless, that's what i'm guessing. the masses have been consistently a terrible disappointment. gandhi's success was in the conversion of the elite: nehru. it was a partial success.
i'm out of time. stay tuned. this is the empire of dr. bienke.//\//\//\/
