american indians had a conception of 'songs' whereby songs might be considered capable of healing. is that peculiar to the new world? have to look some more... for instance if it surfaces in east africa, this conception of a song where a song might operate on something disordered in the sense of 'heal' can i not slide it back on the new world? isn't the east african sound, by the time we catch any, derived from farther east, stretching back the trade routes to polynesia? check dates.
