if you see

upon a tree

a clothespin (the springy kind it should be)

think of me

who died in nineteen thirty three

of too much electricity.

koo kowlick.

it is the strange belief of detechnocrats that the automobile - howsoever horrifying the physical manifestations of its despoilations - is mostly scary in the way it has messed with people's heads.

i go to some banjo site on the net and it tells me that if i want to play in bluegrass jams i will want to buy myself an electric tuner! it is so weak... news from nowhere, folks: we have begun to seriously question the methodology by which we constructed the tonal system in the first place. holding ourselves by means of technological restraints to a road bound to fucked up is stupid. stoopid. a hundred years ago we knew that our system of spelling in english was wildly classist in its arbitrary unruliness. why cannot we fix this in our minds? on the news last night it is an issue again. that teacher union girl is bitching about some administration person who can't spell and was too dumb or overworked to get somebody to proof him. her. we know there are fundamental problems with the construction of our language. this is old news. old news.

slavery lurks in our words. in our streets. in our sounds.

whoa. woe. wo. wo-wo.

summer '69. in austin meet new brother matthew. sharon, daddy's new wife had lived with us in the west austin house and the east austin house too (austin street in nacogdoches). sharon is working for the public television station, involved in the construction of the new pbs.

mouse, i go downstairs this morning and finally kammerman has begun shooting his movie. he says i will have two scenes in it but i have no idea what that will actually mean. yr. momma was tres cool those years and absolutely a powerhouse in the creation of 'the' institution of sanity and taste in american popular culture but it didn't work out did it? if y'all were here y'all could be in the movie too!

austin has always been 'nicer' than most of texas, but never nice enough...

summer '79. from aberystwyth where i am 'studying' visit austin where i discover the new club 'raoul's'. romance some with mary pulkingham. first take cocaine. see harry chapin who is better solo with acoustic guitar than any other way. (i have never owned a harry chapin album and, indeed, i think have never listened to one.)

de-technocrat - a luddite variant of neo-veblenian sociology de-technocrats argue that the process of 'emancipating yourself from entire slavery' (marley) may be achieved through the contemplation of mythological singing cowboys.
