My favorite feed reader, Bloglines, celebrated its first birthday this week with a new interface, new features and a very tempting offer. The temptation being offered is a free public blog with a "Blog This!" type feature in the feed reader.
Never having used Blogger, I can't say whether it's as simple as that
tool. At first glance, it works pretty much like the Radio feature, but
I don't really like how Radio does it. What the Bloglines tool has
going for it is that I have many more feeds there (more than I'll ever
have time for, but that's another story) and I can blog wherever I am
(work, Linux side, Windows side, in the library).
So here's what I'm thinking (though I haven't firmly decided): "Notes
from the Metaverse" will move over to Bloglines and feature quick-hit
links-and-commentary (or vice versa) on all sorts of topics. This Radio
blog will either become more exclusively tech-oriented, or more
exclusively politics-oriented, and generally feature longer,
Searls-style, essays. New title to be determined. The blog over at
Opera, which was supposed to be more political, but has such a clunky
links interface, may become more of a personal journal (which is what
it's supposed to be).
Probably nothing going to happen before July 19, my next book deadline. But be forewarned!
